Reed Homestead

The Reed Homestead will receive many needed repairs as part of the Old Harbor Village project.

A visit to the Reed Homestead is a remarkable chance to walk into an authentic early 1800’s home and discover the of a typical New England Family, the Reed’s.  The house, a center chimney colonial had attached horse stalls. The main attraction of the house is in the upper bedchamber where Rufus Porter, an itinerant painter from Mason, N.H., painted a mural on the four walls. The murals remain in pristine condition.

This treasure of an authentic home from the period is one of the jewels of Old Harbor Village, and is one of the finest places to learn about domestic life of the period in all of New England.
